“A reliable partner, high-quality solutions – and 18 years of growing together”
ROCA SAC Peru, a leading medical technology distributor in Latin America, has been working with Merivaara for nearly two decades. As the first distributor to introduce Q-Flow in the Americas and with almost 200 systems installed, the partnership demonstrates how expertise, innovation and trust come together to improve surgical care.
A trusted partner in Peruvian healthcare
With roots dating back to 1901, Merivaara has built a long legacy in healthcare technology. Today, as part of the Finnish Lojer Group, the company develops operating room solutions that support healthcare professionals and contribute to patient safety in hospitals worldwide.
This expertise is brought to life in Peru through ROCA SAC – a well-established family business with nearly five decades of experience in the healthcare sector.
“ROCA is a family business that started 47 years ago. Our mission is to provide healthcare providers with the right solutions and equipment to treat patients effectively,” says Claudia Castellanos, CEO of ROCA SAC Peru.
The company’s approach is built on two strong pillars: representing high-quality, globally recognized brands and delivering excellent technical service.
“We are very careful in choosing our partners. We want reliable, high-quality brands – and at the same time, we ensure that our customers receive the best possible support to keep their equipment performing over time.”
A partnership built on trust and continuity
The cooperation between ROCA and Merivaara began in 2008 and has developed into a long-term partnership built on trust, shared goals and continuous collaboration.
“It has been a great pleasure to share our successful experience with Merivaara – an 18-year relationship,” Castellanos says.
Over the years, the companies have grown together.
“We have been growing with all the different solutions Merivaara has introduced. The company is flexible, understands the Latin American market and has always supported us with strong expertise.”
According to Yojin Ramones, Regional Sales Manager, Americas and Caribbean at Merivaara, the partnership is defined by continuous collaboration:
“Success comes from dynamic joint work – in sales, after-sales support and developing new opportunities together.”
First to bring Q-Flow to the Americas
Innovation has been a key part of the partnership. In 2018, ROCA became the first distributor to introduce Merivaara’s Q-Flow surgical light solution in the Americas.
The first installation took place in a new oncology clinic in Lima, marking the beginning of Q-Flow’s journey in the region.
Since then, adoption has grown steadily, with more than 180 systems installed in the market.
“Our clients are very happy with Q-Flow. It’s a reliable solution that works consistently over many years,” says Castellanos.
“Surgeons appreciate the lighting quality and usability – it truly supports their work.”
Proven quality in real clinical environments
Today, Merivaara solutions are widely used across Peru. ROCA has delivered a significant number of operating tables and surgical lights to hospitals throughout the country.
“We have over 140 operating tables and more than 200 surgical lights installed. A large share of these are in public hospitals, but also in leading private clinics,” Castellanos explains.
The feedback from healthcare professionals highlights two key strengths: reliability and flexibility.
“Merivaara offers a wide portfolio that adapts to different needs – from basic solutions to more advanced configurations. And the durability is excellent. We have equipment that has been in use for over 10 years and is still performing very well.”
This strong installed base also builds confidence in the market.
“It’s important for our clients to know that this is not something new or experimental – it is a well-established and trusted solution.”
Expertise that goes beyond products
A key factor behind the success of the partnership is continuous training and knowledge sharing.
ROCA’s engineers have been trained and certified at Merivaara’s factory in Finland, ensuring high technical competence in the local market.
“This is very important for us, especially in public tenders. We need to demonstrate certified expertise, and Merivaara has supported us very well,” says Castellanos.
The collaboration goes beyond training.
“You are very close to us – not only in sales, but also in logistics and problem-solving. When we need support, Merivaara is there.”
According to Ramones, strong technical cooperation has been essential:
“From the beginning, we have worked closely with ROCA – providing training, supporting installations and helping them develop their service capabilities.”
Growing together in a global market
Today, ROCA is a leading partner for Merivaara in the region, with strong growth and an expanding presence.
The companies are actively working on new projects, including operating tables and surgical lighting solutions, while also expanding into new product areas.
“We are currently working on several new projects and supporting ROCA in tenders and new opportunities. The cooperation continues to grow,” Ramones adds.
Joint activities such as congress participation – including the anesthesiology congress in Lima – further strengthen visibility and collaboration.
A partnership driven by people
At the heart of the collaboration are people – healthcare professionals, engineers and teams working together across continents.
“One of our main values is to provide complete solutions for our clients. At the end of the day, we are all humans – we all have families and people we care about,” Castellanos reflects.
This human perspective gives meaning to the work.
“Merivaara is a reliable partner with high-quality solutions and strong support. We are very happy to work together.”
